“As long as there was coffee in the world, how bad could things be?”
― Cassandra Clare.
Let’s hear it from Cairo’s most loyal coffee lover; Kholoud El-Mahdy
There are things that when you see, you feel a chemistry brewing magically in front of you, you feel a spark and you feel the passion radiating out of it; Kholoud El-Mahdy’s relentless passion for coffee is one of those things.
If you don’t know who Kholoud is, then you guys need to grab your phones as soon as possible, hit on your Instagram icon and search for @kholoudelmahdy and trust me you’ll fall in love at first sight. This young girl is pure talent walking on the streets of Egypt – a force conquering the world of the photography art – a camera always strapped around her neck, an armor of passion for all things beauty and a large cup of coffee in her hands.
For Kholoud; “Coffee is a cup of hope in a world full of chaos”. Her love for coffee began about 3 years ago when her nerves were full on stretched on a very important history exam; unable to focus, nervous and sleep-deprived, she walked in on her sister making a cup of coffee for herself and with much love her sister offered to make her a cup – to calm you down a bit, she said – and with the first sniff and sip, Kholoud fell in love.
“But first Coffee…” is a caption we all see being written down on many coffee posts, by for Kholoud this is not a caption she’d use lightly, for her it’s a life moto, a methodology she passionately chose to live by. For her, coffee is inspiration. It is the supportive companion on every hardship, tough day and whenever she’s embarking on a very important day.
“Coffee isn’t just a cup to drink, it’s an artistic start to every morning with every rising sun” – said Kholoud with passion.
And from all that passion came a title, given to her by her friends over at ‘Cairospots’ – Cairo’s most loyal Coffee Lover. And even way before that title made an appearance, she was known as the madly in love girl with coffee. A love she expressed with her photos – you cannot argue how beautiful and magnificent her photos are – with ever new latte art she got served a creative photo was born through her eyes; whether she had her camera or only her phone. For her it’s not possible to resist taking coffee photos.
When it comes to her coffee photography, it’s something Kholoud didn’t plan on mastering; that was pure passion manifesting out of her. The most she drank coffee the more that passion grew and the more her photography career took root towards it, it’s like meeting a soul mate, you find your way towards each other, you fall for each other and you click.
Kholoud’s work is something to stand in owe for and with true admiration gawk at. But her coffee shots are something to behold; even if you don’t love coffee, whether you like it in the morning, the afternoon, with a piece of chocolate, something salty or even with a pizza, coffee through Kholoud’s eyes is forever and always a grand idea to marvel at.
It won’t make a difference whether you love Turkish coffee, American, latte, cappuccino, espresso or mocha, coffee is forever that thing you fall in love with every single new morning. And through Kholoud’s photography you’re bound to go madly in love with it even more.
