A refined dining experience at InterContinental Semiramis’ Pane Vino is guaranteed by Chef Giovanni Romagnoli.
Chef Giovanni passion was always pizza dough since he was a kid growing up in Naples, the famous birthplace of the modern pizza.
Since then he took his passion to professional levels and got several degrees in pizza dough making, then ran his own pizzeria in Hurghada for a decade before joining InterContinental Semiramis’ Pane Vino.
Pizza has always been a part of Romagnoli‘s life, and perfecting the cuisine is a near obsession of his.
According to him the secret to perfect dough is the mix; every famous chef uses his own blend of different flours and that recipe is theirs alone, Romagnoli says. Then come the long fermentation process and a 24-hour slow leavening that’s the secret to perfect dough.
But guests can expect more than pizza from the extensive menu that chef Giovanni offers.
The menu has a large selection of traditional Italian classics from pasta Alfredo to Veal Escalope. Other items are the chef’s own inventions, dishes created after hours of experiments in the kitchen.
His salmon/apple tartare is finished off with a dash of ginger, a traditional Asian flavor, while Sumak (a Middle Eastern spice) dresses up some of his salads. The fettuccine Bubba, named after a character in his beloved movie Forrest Gump, features pasta with shrimp, topped with balsamic vinegar, cherry tomatoes, arugula, and Parmesan.
A team of 13 cooks work under Romagnoli; they have all been trained in the chef’s style of cooking. They all bring the dishes together while building on the techniques they’ve learned from other Italian chefs.
