Singer, songwriter and visual artist Tania Saleh, one of the most important contemporary alternative lebanese, independent artist in the Arab world.
Since her early debut in 1990, she has experimented with various genres, always challenging herself to explore new styles (musically, lyrically and visually), which has resulted in a fresh and original mix of Lebanese contemporary art. Her lyrics mirror the reality of the Lebanese/Arab social and political turmoil. She revives traditional Arabic music like “tarab”, “mawwal” and “dabke” but also experiments with folk, alternative rock, bossa nova, jazz and most recently electronic music.
In addition to her collaborations with many Arab and International artists like Ziad Rahbany, Toufic Farroukh, Issam Hajali, Charbel Rouhana, Ibrahim Maalouf and Hazem Shaheen, she has released 5 albums, “Tania Saleh” 2002 (self-produced), “Wehde” 2011 (self-produced), “Live at DRM” 2012 (self-produced), “Shwayit Souwar-A Few Images” 2014 (co-produced by the Norwegian label, KKV) and “Intersection” 2017, an audiovisual experiment combining street art, Arabic calligraphy, poetry and contemporary electronic music (co-produced by the Norwegian label, KKV).
