One month has passed since we set our new year’s resolution of keeping a healthy diet and we can only say one thing about it: it’s tough. Since winter is here, all we want to do is bundle up and snack on comfort food because we are all foodies at heart and the thought of choosing a healthy plate over a delicious one is an absolute nightmare. This is why we looked for healthy dishes in restaurants and cafes that have been open for a while and serve up healthy menu options that are delicious and help you keep your 2019 goals in check, so you can safely ditch the sad kale salad you’re forced to eat when you’re out! It comes as no surprise that Crave is at the top of our list. This restaurant offers an array of dishes for all tastes. It’s perfect for when you’re brunching/lunching after your fitness class or when you’re out with your friends and you want a fancy filling salad. Our favorite is the Grilled Shrimp Guacamole Salad (see picture), but we also recommend their chicken quinoa salad, Salmon Salad, Lentil Soup, Grilled Chicken and their Fish a la Capri.
While Qahwa might be famous for its top-notch breakfast, it has amazing lunch options as well. The restaurant offers many light dishes as well as detox drinks. You can also make your own sandwich and control your calorie intake with what you choose to add. The Smoked Salmon Salad is one of our favorites. What’s yours?
This upscale culinary hub is worth the hype. You might have to wait in line on a Friday, but it’s definitely worth it because it suits all tastes – whether it’s healthy or comfort food dishes to satisfy your cravings. The Eatery has staple healthy dishes such as the Smoked Salmon served with vegetables, the Saki Salad, the Spicy Salmon Chirasi, the Oven Baked Sea Bass and Sea Salt Beef if you’re not in the mood for your regular salad.
We all have our sushi dinners every month and the best thing about Mori is that they care about non-sushi lovers and have created the grill menu for them. This comes in handy when you’re on a diet or trying to be healthy and you’re not in the mood for sashimi. Some of our favorite dishes include the Grilled Salmon, the Grilled Black Cod, the Yaki Beef, the Poke Bowl, the Salmon Ceviche and the seaweed salad.
Casper & Gambini’s
Casper & Gambini’s are known for their light menu items. They’re not necessarily all healthy, but somehow they’re not very heavy. One healthy dish on their menu surely stands out and that’s the Asian Sesame Chicken Salad. This is definitely a very popular dish because it’s quite unique and very filling. Other healthy options include the Lemon Quinoa Salad, the Smoked Salmon Salad, Beef Tenderloin, Chicken under a Brick, the Hooked on Salmon and the Smoked Salmon Sandwich.
Mo Bistro is one of those restaurants that you know you will spend a lot, but you will totally get your money’s worth. This classic spot is the ambiance that gourmet-minded foodies crave but rarely encounter. The food itself is creative, delicious and visually appealing. One of its famous healthy dishes is the Crispy Skin Fillet of Sea Bass in a light bath of lemon butter sauce on a bed of fresh potato chips and asparagus. Other options include the Zesty Salmon, the Grilled Sea Bass, the Rotisserie Grilled Chicken and the Salmon Salad.
While this Italian spot is well known for its stellar pizza and pasta dishes, its lighter options are quite appetizing. One of the most underrated healthy dishes is the Grigliata de Mare; it is so delectable and satisfying. A must-try!
We can understand why this might come as a surprise to you since Cake Café is known for its mouthwatering and tasty cakes, but it actually has some decent healthy choices for when you’re brunching after your fitness class, or when you want a quick healthy dish and you’re in a rush. Some healthy dishes include this Aubergine Sandwich, the Hummus Tortilla Roll, the Pastrami & Cheese Brown Bread Sandwich, the Musli & Yogurt with Honey, alongside their detox drinks.
There is no reason why you should miss out on an outing to Mince with your friends if you’re dieting because their menu is original and considerate. Mince offers many options for all kinds of tastes. If you want to keep it safe, you can go with the Grilled Chicken Burger with Sweet Potato Fries. We are not saying this will make you lose weight; we’re just saying it’s a safe bet. Other options include the Grilled Tandoori Chicken Burger, the Honey Mustard Chicken Burger and the Green Leaves Salad. We used to love their Chicken & Orange salad, but sadly it is discontinued!
Tres Bon is one of those restaurants that is severely underrated and overlooked and that is a shame because their menu is very rich in options, flavor and portions. The Chicken Sun-dried Tomato is one of our favorite healthy dishes on the menu. We also recommend trying the Chicken Ala Grill, the Chicken Shanghai, the Mexican Shrimp, the Fresh Salmon and the Waldorf salad.
Chili’s has recently come a long way; it may have seemed like it has lost its spark, but it revamped the menu and is going strong amongst the cut-throat F&B scene in Egypt. It has recently added the Guiltless Grill section that includes an array of grill assortments to match different tastes.
