11 shows to binge watch instead of Game of Thrones

Game of Thrones has come to an end and to say that we the fans are devastated is the understatement of the year.
Although many have expressed their disappointment in this season’s development and its ending, there’s no denying that all of us are going to miss it.
After all, the show was a part of our lives for 8 years waiting and waiting for each new episode to drop.
Right now most of us feel rather empty and filled with the feeling of not knowing what to do or watch next.

So here on CNL, we decided to come up with a list of shows that might fill the GOT void on our screens.

1. Vikings


An action series with six seasons available on Netflix to binge watch, the show takes us on a journey to the brutal world of a Viking warrior named Ragnar Lothbrok who wants to explore and raid the distant shores across the ocean.

2. Chernobyl


Set in 1986 the series depicts one of the most catastrophic events of the explosion in Chernobyl nuclear power plant in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
The show’s certified fresh with 98% on Rotten Tomatoes makes high on the list of shows to watch.

3. Spartacus


Revolve around the life of Spartacus the gladiator, who led a rebellion against the Romans.
It was canceled after just three seasons, but this Action/Drama will definitely provide you with great battle scenes.

4. The Last Kingdom


A Drama/History production about Alfred the Great who defends his kingdom against northern invaders and Uhtred who attempts to demand his ancestral birthright.
It’s available for streaming on Netflix, and it’s highly rated with 91% on Rotten Tomatoes.

5. The Tudors


A Drama/History about the reign and life of King Henry VIII, it was canceled after the fourth season despite praising reviews and a huge fan base.

6. The Handmaid’s Tale


Set in a dystopian future where women are forced to serve as a concubine under fundamentalist theocratic dictatorship.
The show is slow paced and extremely dark, but that doesn’t take away from its brilliance.

7. Outlander


A Drama/Fantasy about an English combat nurse who mysteriously travels back in time to 1743.
Outlander is adapted from the best-selling books by Diana Gabaldon.

8. Peaky Blinders


Five seasons available for streaming on Netflix with excellent ratings on both IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes.
The show is set in 1919, Birmingham, England, about a gangster family and their ruthless boss Tommy Shelby.

9. Westworld


A Sci-fi/Mystery produced by HBO that explores a world where all human desires can be gratified without any consequences.
The upcoming season will feature Aaron Paul best known for his role in the hit series Breaking Bad.

10. Black Mirror


Stand-alone episodes that all have a dark undertone to them and wild plot twists.
Fans should expect a new installment after the success of the movie Black Mirror: Bandersnatch in June 2019.

11. Love, Death & Robots


A new animated series on Netflix that’s a collection of animated short stories that include various genres such as fantasy, horror, Sci-fi, and action.

With the exception of a few shows that don’t precisely match the genre, these shows will appeal to most GOT fans.
