Ahmed Nazmi Started off as a piano player at the age of 6,
then learning the lute and guitar as he grew up, Nazmi took
a turn at the age of 15, when he discovered his passion for
playing the bass.
As he continues to develop his professional signature
by revisiting his rich heritage with a fresh perspective.
He delicately blends the traditions of jazz and African
music with Egyptian music into a distinctive, original
approach to bass playing.
Nazmi has toured internationally with his band The Hot
Potato Project and Yehya Khalil. He has toured throughout
Europe with A Fula’s Call, Marc Bischoff,Omar Ka, 6 Spoons,
1 Kitchen Group (Netherlands-based Artists), Egyptian
Grammy-Award winning artist Fathy Salama “Sharkeyat
Fathy Salama” from 2009 till 2012, renowned Egyptian
singer Mohamed Mounir and the legendary Lebanese
composer, musician, and playwright Ziad Rahbani.
The breakthrough for him was when he wrote ‘Shams’,
the title track of the album, in 2015. It was a creative revolution
for him, as he shifted the bass from the background
to the focal point of the track, where it duets with
