The highlight of AFCON 2019: Great gestures and encouraging inclusivity

Yesterday our National Team was eliminated from AFCON 2019, while some might choose to only remember this disappointing fact from that event.
We want to celebrate a noble gesture where Mohamed Fadl head of the organizing committee made a child’s dream come true.

It all started when the grandmother of Ibrahim a child rocking an extra chromosome, shared a post stating how much her grandson loves football.
Also, he wishes to be one of the kids escorting the players to the pitch before the game.

The post spread like wildfire and even got a response from Fadl himself, confirming that Ibrahim will present on Saturday’s match.

His mother kept us posted about how happy and excited Ibrahim was, and how touched she was by the messages of love people kept sending her.

Only minutes away from walking on the field now. The sound of the crowd is incredible. Goosebumps

It’s been an incredible few days, a little overwhelming even. But I have to say there was an incredible buzz last night…

Ibrahim accompanied his favorite player Ahmed Hegazy; it was obvious that he couldn’t contain his happiness, that it melted football fans’ hearts everywhere.

This small gesture made a child’s dream come true and rather restored our faith in humanity a little.
A special thanks to Mohamed Fadl, who made it all happen when he responded to the post.

The power of social media is undeniable and as this case shows, it can be used for good instead of cyberbullying and spreading negativity.
